DIY Vader

You can’t really go wrong with Darth Vader.  Whether it is the internet Meme “Chad Vader” or some dude dressed up in a Hello Kitty Vader Suit, it’s always great. The Vader Project,  a series of artist-designed and painted Vader heads, gives you another reason to love the tall dark guy. Artists like Tokidoki, Ron English and Dalek put their own unique style on great looking 1:1 scale replicas of evil Anakin’s famous helmet. And as you can tell by the above example designed by LA artist Gary Baseman, it’s just as marvelous as it sounds.

This is the trailer for Kojima Productions’ upcoming video game extravaganza Metal Gear Solid: Rising.  It amazingly introduces the concept of zan-datsu (cut and take), which lets you cut through enemies, cars, melons and other objects at your own will. One might only ask why it took a mainstream game developer such a long time to finally apply this awesome feature to an action game.

Shigeru Komatsuzaki (1915-2001) was an extraordinary Japanese artist, creating artwork for numerous (nowadays vintage) plastic model boxes. The paintings have that amazing mix of late 70’s, early 80’s technical achievement and the visionary approach of what the future could look like. Underwater cars, space colonies, pyramid shaped mega-buildings, robots fighting dinosaurs, it’s all there. All that’s left for us to do, is to be astounded by Komatsuzaki’s amazing work.

Shocked bystanders stared in amazement. Veteran performers fell like domino stones as even they had to confront themselves with their own mortality.

The universal printing press stopped for the first time in a billion years, as the world as we know it got eaten by a robot.
